When the Order of Sisters, Servants of Mary made the decision to relocate from their long-standing location at the corner of Victoria Avenue and Gonzalez Avenue, they came to Lauterbach & Associates Architects to help them plan their new home. Beginning with the selection of a site in one of Oxnard's oldest and most historic neighborhoods, the project was five years in the making. The new convent facility is a residence, school, infirmary, and chapel. The convent serves over 50 nuns, who continue to perform public service to the sick and elderly of Ventura County. The project was meticulously planned inside and out to provide for the Sisters’ every need, as well as satisfying the planning and aesthetic requirements of the surrounding community.

The grand turnout for the dedication of the chapel in 1999 served as testimony to the beauty and good will that this new convent represented to the community now and for years to come.
