Lauterbach & Associates, Architects provided full architectural services for the Oxnard facility of a large Southern California-based chain of appliance and plumbing fixtures warehouse stores. A high visibility site adjacent to the 101 Freeway was selected. The plan for this branch was to provide service to customers from all of central Ventura County.

Because the owner had some very defined goals, the architectural program was created with clear specifications. The new 19,000 square foot showroom was "to provide for a future mezzanine and a large facade to accommodate the clients seasonal advertising" needs. This required a tall building with eye-catching window space. Because the site was "freeway close" accessibility was less of an issue than visibility. Not only did the building have to be designed to provide an effective, efficient space for customers and staff—it had to announce its presence to motorists speeding by on a busy freeway. The curved front facade with striking fin detailing answers the challenge of relating to the fast paced 101 traffic by presenting a memorable icon for the commuter.
